Asbury Park Feted For Support Of Clean Ocean

Ocean Planners honored Asbury Park, Bradley Beach and Berkeley for their full-throated support of a clean and vibrant ocean.

ASBURY PARK, NJ - The city joins its neighbor Bradley Beach and Berkeley Township in Ocean County to become the first municipal governments in the country to weigh in on the Mid-Atlantic Regional Ocean Action Plan which provides for a more informed and coordinated approach toward managing ocean resources to guarantee smart decisions about future uses.

Every community along the New Jersey coast and throughout the state has a unique individuality, said the planning authority. And while the towns are separated they also are connected: With more than 130 miles of shore from Sandy Hook to Cape May, it doesn’t take much to find the ocean connection between communities and how best to assure its vitality and vibrancy.

Berkeley Township in Ocean County, Bradley Beach and Asbury Park, both Monmouth County, each adopted resolutions strongly supporting a "strong, protective" Mid-Atlantic Regional Ocean Action Plan.
