Asbury Park Kwanzaa Celebration Dec. 9

Asbury Park's Kwanzaa celebration is scheduled for Dec. 9 at the Senior Center. A few hours later, another Christmas Tree Lighting convenes.

ASBURY PARK, NJ - The city's annual Kwanzaa Celebration starts at 2 p.m. Dec. 9 and includes the theme of "Unstoppable," driven by a quote from Brian Tracy: "The greatest human quality is that of becoming unstoppable and you become unstoppable by refusing to quit no matter what happens."

The event, sponsored by the city, city schools and a host of groups and businesses, is at the Asbury Park Senior Center, 1201 Springwood Ave. More information is available by calling 732-775-2100 or at www.cityofasburypark.com.

The celebration will include music and cultural entertainment.

If you are in the mood and missed any of the previous tree lightings, you will get your fifth opportunity to celebrate the joy of bright lights on horticulture when a tree will be lit at Springwood Park, at the corner of Atkins and Springwood avenues. It begins at 5 p.m. and last until 6:30 p.m. Naturally, Santa will appear.
