Asbury Park Library Shuts Down Due To COVID-19

The safety of the community and continuity of operations are top priorities for the Asbury Park Public Library, officials say.

ASBURY PARK – The safety of the community and continuity of operations are top priorities for the Asbury Park Public Library, officials say.

Due to the recent spike in Covid-19 cases, however, the library building was closed to the public starting Tuesday, December 8th.

During this time, Virtual Library Services, including Curbside Pick Up, will be available during library hours: Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

While the library building is closed to the public, computer use and collection browsing will be suspended. For details, visit our Services Update Page at www.asburyparklibrary.org.

Curbside Pickup
Curbside Pickup will be available during library hours. Library staff can provide personal book recommendations based on your reading interests.

Digital Collection
Use your library card and pin to explore our free digital collections of Audiobooks, eBooks, magazines, and streaming media available on Hoopla.

Library Cards
To apply for a Library Card, visit www.asburyparklibrary.org or call 732-774-4221. For library card holders that need a pin, call 732-774-4221.

Returning Items
Borrowed items may be returned at the main entrance located at 500 First Avenue during library hours. Please do not leave items outside of the building. Returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours which will not counted against your return date.

Virtual Reference Services
For virtual reference services, contact Adult Services and Children’s Services during Library Hours by calling 732-774-4221 or emailing apl-info@asburyparklibrary.org.

Virtual Programs
The library will provide a schedule of virtual programming for all ages—from storytime and crafts to lectures and workshops. Visit our website at www.asburyparklibrary.org or follow us on Facebook @asburyparklibrary for details.

Other Notices

  • All expiring library cards will be extended through February 1, 2021.
  • The Library is unable to accept book donations at this time.
  • Items checked out after October 5, 2020 are subject to late fees if kept past their due dates.
