Asbury Park Mayor Collects Money For Summer Recreation Program
Asbury Mayor John Moor has helped collect enough donations to assure recreation for every child who wanted it will now renew his efforts .

ASBURY PARK, NJ - The Rodeo For Recreation - Mayor John B. Moor's fund-raising efforts to pay for summer recreation programs for the city's children - will return this Spring like a pair of cowboy boots with a fresh coat of polish.
In a letter distributed by the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce, Moor announced the program which was initially held in 2016, raising more than $40,000 in scholarships so that any child who wanted access to the city's summer program would receive it will try again.
The money raised in 2016 was enough to fund that summer and the summer of 2017, according to a post in the Asbury Park Sun.
“More than 600 children attended the six-week summer camp program in those two years,” Moor wrote in the letter. “This endeavor would have been impossible without the generous donations received.”
The Rodeo for Recreation will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. April 19 at the Stone Pony. The goal will be to fund scholarships for summer 2018 and 2019.
Individual ticket costs are $85 but if you can afford more, consider funding the Cowboy Package, which costs $2,500 and sponsors 10 children in the summer camp program. It will promote your donation in all related promotional items including the APTV station, the Asbury Park Press, all press releases and save the date publications, recognition on the city’s website and marquee; a full page in the ad journal ; opportunity to speak at the Rodeo for Recreation, your name will be included in all event signage, your company name will be featured on the recreation summer camp t-shirt worn by each participant and you will receive a table of 10 at the Rodeo for Recreation.
There are other packages as well: the Horseshoe Package costs $1,500 and sponsors five children. Your sponsorship will be noted in the ad journal, included in all press releases and on the city’s website and you will receive four tickets to the Rodeo for Recreation.
The Pony Express Package costs $1,000 and sponsors two children to the summer camp program, features a mention in the ad journal, two tickets to the Rodeo for Recreation and sponsor recognition on select promotional items.
The Howdy Partner Package costs $500 and sends one child to the summer camp program. You will also receive one ticket to the Rodeo for Recreation and an honorable mention in select promotional items.
