Asbury Park Not Enforcing Parking Due To Storm

Asbury Park is responding to the aftermath of the winter storm that dumped excessive snow on coastal New Jersey.

ASBURY PARK, NJ - For those of you who got used to free parking here during the holidays, you are getting another respite from those meters: because of the snow dumped on the city by that Grayson guy, paid parking will be suspended until 9 a.m. Monday, officials said in a Facebook post.

Where possible, park today on the odd side of the street. Tomorrow, park on the even side.

Vehicles that are double-parked, parked in front of a fire hydrant or impeding the city's clean up efforts will be ticketed.

Sidewalks should be cleared of snow by Sunday morning. When shoveling, don't throw snow into the street.

Place snow up on the curb to prevent it from winding up in your driveway or that of your neighbor's. This will help avoid accidents and delays in the plowing process, officials said.

Regular garbage collection resumed today but if reading is fundamental, be aware: the Asbury Park Public Library is closed today.

Because of temperatures dropping into the negative numbers, water main breaks are more likely to occur, water company officials said. If you have a problem related to a water main, call New Jersey-American Water at 800-272-1325 or the Asbury Park Police Department at 732-774-1300.

For questions about snow removal, contact city Public Works at 732-775-0900.
