Asbury Park Will Experience More Road Closures Over Next Week

ASBURY PARK, NJ - State Transportation Department officials said the start of a utility maintenance project on Route 71/Main Street will require lane closures and local detours at the Lake/Springwood avenues intersection here.

Beginning today and continuing for some three days or until completion, municipal contractor Lucas Construction Corp. is scheduled to close the two northbound lanes on Route 71/Main Street at the Lake/Springwood avenues intersection.

The project is sanitary sewer maintenance work. Route 71/Main Street southbound will remain unaffected during construction on the northbound lanes. When work on the northbound lanes is complete, it will reopen, officials said in a release.

Beginning at 9 a.m., Monday, after construction is anticipated to be completed on Route 71 northbound, the municipal contractor is expected to close the two southbound lanes on Route 71/Main Street between Lake and Springwood avenues to continue utility maintenance work.

During construction on the southbound lanes, Route 71/Main Street northbound will remain unaffected.

Here is the proposed detour for Route 71/Main Street northbound: Route 71/Main Street northbound motorists will be directed to turn right onto Bond Street; turn right onto Lake Avenue, left onto Emory Street, then left onto First Avenue and then continue to Route 71/Main Street.

Here is the proposed detour for Route 71/Main Street southbound: turn right onto Bangs Avenue, left onto Memorial Drive, left onto Route 33/Corlies Avenue, then continue to Route 71/Main Street.
