RED BANK, NJ - Three people including a local man face charges in connection with attempting to bribe a witness in a pending Asbury Park armed robbery case, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
James Williams, 32, of Red Bank, Hideia Bouie, 21, and Ameer Washington, 27, both of Neptune Township, all face witness tampering charges. If convicted of the second-degree offenses, each faces a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in a New Jersey state prison, officials said. Williams has previously been indicted in a Feb. 18, 2017 armed robbery in Asbury Park. Monmouth County authorities later determined that led that Williams sought to have Bouie and Washington approach the victim in that robbery case and offer him money to recant his story. The trio is lodged at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution. The State has filed a motion to detain all defendants pending a trial on these charges. Williams also is detained on his prior robbery charge.
