E Street's Steven Van Zandt Cancels Most Of Tour, Citing Illness

ASBURY PARK, NJ — Steven Van Zandt is canceling most of his upcoming tour dates, citing illness. The longtime guitarist with Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band has been touring with his own group, The Disciples of Soul.

In a statement posted to his website, Van Zandt cites illness as the reason.

“I thought I could shake this sinusitis," he wrote. "It doesn’t seem to be going away"

Van Zandt says he feels "terrible about this," adding that he's never had to cancel shows before.

"My doctors are telling me there’s just no way to continue right now," he wrote. "We want to thank the fans for all of their support."

Van Zandt he hopes to reschedule shows at some point and, in the meantime, refunds are available at the point of sale.

Two shows will still go on.

Van Zandt still plans to play the Chevalier Theater in Boston on Nov. 2 and The Beacon Theater in New York City on Nov 6.

The shows at the Beacon will be filmed and recorded for a live DVD and album release down the road.
