Hurricane Dorian Update: 'Do Not Focus On The Track Alone' In NJ
Flooding and 50-mph winds are possible in New Jersey when Hurricane Dorian moves northeast. Here's where.

NEW JERSEY — Hurricane Dorian is turning northeast Tuesday after staying nearly stationary on Labor Day, according to the National Hurricane Center. Classified as a category 2 hurricane, it's packing maximum sustained winds of 110 mph and is expected to continue to head northeast by Wednesday night.
But even as the storm appears ready to steer away from New Jersey, the National Weather Service says: "Do not focus on the track alone. Impacts will occur well outside the center."
The National Weather Service says New Jersey will get 40 to 50 mph winds and possible flooding along the Jersey Shore – Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic and Cape May counties – on Thursday night and Friday. The rest of the state will likely have breezy conditions.

A hazardous weather outlook was issued for the Jersey Shore, saying the center of Hurricane Dorian is forecast to pass by well offshore on Friday. Gusty onshore winds are anticipated for Thursday and Friday, and some coastal flooding is possible.
