LITTLE SILVER, NJ - Thanksgiving is about two things: food and football and Black Friday is the day for both when Little Silver takes on Shrewsbury in the annual Peninsula Playoff, formerly the Football Classic, a fund-raiser for Lunch Break which is a charity devoted to providing meals, food supplies and other services. This year, however, is a double-header, so to speak, with Rumson and Fair Haven playing each other as well. The competitions are scheduled for Black Friday at Count Basie Field in Red Bank which also is the hometown of Lunch Break although it services Monmouth and Ocean Counties, according to its website. Lunch Break also reports it is serving a record number of people this year and hunger can so often be a hidden need.

Matches will be played between men, women and children in like age groups. At 9 a.m. for example, children in fifth and sixth grade will take on one another while simultaneously, children in seventh and eighth grades will play. Women 18 and older will play at noon while men 35 and older will play at 10:30 a.m. Men 18 and older will play at 1:30 p.m.
