Mass Teacher Call Out Causes Closing Of All Asbury Park Schools
According to an alert on the district's website, the district couldn't find 45 substitute teachers to fill all of the call-outs.

ASBURY PARK, NJ – A mass call out by district teachers has forced all Asbury Park schools to close for the day on Friday.
In an alert on the district website, the reason given for the closure of the schools was due to “excessive instructional staff absences and not being able to secure 45 substitute-teachers.”
The alert also said that no after-school activities or sports would take place today. However, the district stated that the senior prom scheduled for tonight will still go on as planned in a tweet.

The mass call-out comes after a lockdown of the high school and Thurgood Marshall Elementary School on Tuesday, which was prompted by a tweet from Thurgood Marshall Elementary’s principal Reginald Mirthil, who is currently on leave, according to the Asbury Park Press.
