NJ Weather: Hurricane Zeta Remnants To Bring Storms To NJ
The storms are expected to bring heavy rain to NJ and some areas could see their first snowflakes.

NEW JERSEY – Hurricane Zeta remnants will soak New Jersey this week as storms are expected to hit the Garden State, bringing some of the first snowflakes to the northern areas.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for the entire state, saying rounds of heavy rain will pass through on Thursday and Friday. Flash flooding is possible.
Several waves of low pressure, including the remnant low of Zeta, will affect the region Thursday through Friday. The 1st round of heavy rain will pass through on Thursday, then the 2nd round will occur Thursday night through Friday morning. Minor flooding is possible. pic.twitter.com/kuCt92PUq1

Some snow is in the forecast in Sussex County on Friday night, but most of the state is supposed to get heavy rain.

The rain is supposed to start after 5 a.m. on Thursday, and the storms will be at their strongest point after 8 p.m.

A winter-like storm and Zeta are forecast to combine forces and bring to the northeastern United States drenching rain and even accumulating snow in some locations, according to AccuWeather.

Unlike Sandy, which moved westward from the Atlantic toward the East Coast, and Wilma, which emerged over the western Atlantic, Zeta is predicted to spend many hours over the interior southern US before it meets up with enough cold air to produce snow, according to AccuWeather.
Strong winds also could present a problem to the region.
Here is the forecast:
- Wednesday: A chance of rain, mainly before 11 a.m.. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
- Wednesday night: A chance of rain, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
- Thursday: Rain, mainly after 8am. High near 48. Light north wind becoming northeast 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
- Thursday night: Rain. Low around 36. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
- Friday: Rain, mainly before 2pm. High near 41. North wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Friday night: A chance of rain, mixing with snow in some areas after 7 p.m., then gradually ending. Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
