Ocean Police Arrest Man Who Ingested Cocaine
Wilbert Ellis is accused of swallowing crack cocaine and heroin to avoid arrest

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Police say they have charged Wilbert F. Ellis, 42, of West Long Branch whom they say chose to swallow heroin and crack cocaine shortly before noon Jan. 9 to avoid arrest for possession.
Ellis was on West Park Avenue when detectives encountered him, according to the police release.
During the investigation, police said Ellis swallowed drugs, specifically crack cocaine and heroin in an attempt to avoid arrest. He was not successful and arrested and taken to Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, for treatment.

Ellis also was found to be in possession of 80 bags of heroin hidden in his clothes, police said.
Upon his hospital discharge, Ellis was transported to the police station where he was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, obstruction, failure to turn over drugs, wandering with the purpose to distribute drugs and also possession of drugs in a motor vehicle.
Ellis was transported and lodged in Monmouth County Jail pending his initial court appearance.
