RED BANK, NJ - The All Faiths Committee of the Monmouth County Boy Scouts of America chapter is offering an alternative to post-holiday shopping in the form of its fifth Ten Commandments hike highlighting religious sites throughout the borough. According to a notice on the Boy Scouts website, all scouts, leaders and their families are welcome, including boy scouts, cub scouts, girl scouts and accompanying family members. Check-in is set for 8:30 a.m. and the actual hike is set for 9 a.m. beginning at St. James Church on Broad Street. Hikers will learn about the different religions represented in Red Bank, as well as the history of the specific sites and buildings and their roles in the borough.
In total, the hike should cover only a few miles and participants should wear their Class A uniforms and bring a bag lunch. The cost is $3, payable on the day of the event. The fee covers the cost of the patch given to participants. Hikers should bring canned goods which will be donated to local food pantries. The activity is limited to the first 250 participants.
