Services Held For Hotel Executive In Asbury Park: Officials

The man was struck and killed by a NJ Transit train, according to authorities.

Services were held for an executive at a local hotel who was struck and killed by a NJ Transit train in Asbury Park on Monday, according to authorities.

Brian Holland, 37, of Asbury Park was struck at 2:20 a.m., according to NJ Transit and his obituary. The hotel paid tribute to him on Facebook.

Born in Brooklyn, Holland lived in Freehold and Wall before moving to Asbury Park 10 years ago. He was a graduate of Wall High School Class of 1999, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree at East Stroudsburg University, Pa. in 2004, according to his obituary.

Active in numerous theater productions, Brian "brought passion, commitment and fun to his work for over 15 years at The Atlantic Club and, most recently, as the regional director of employee experience at The Asbury Hotel, which opened in 2016," according to the obituary.

Holland was also involved in numerous charitable and community organizations in Asbury Park. Brian was a parishioner of St. Rose Church in Belmar.

Visitation was Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall. Funeral Mass was Thursday, 10 a.m. at St. Rose Church, Belmar.

Committal followed in St. Anne Cemetery, Wall.

The North Jersey Coast Line train had no passengers on board at the time of the incident.

The train, which struck the man near Sunset Avenue, was traveling from Bay Head to Long Branch at the time.
