3 Crashes In Nutley End With Alcohol, Intoxication Charges: PD

Three unrelated car crashes took place in Nutley over the course of a week, each allegedly involving alcohol or intoxication, police said.

NUTLEY, NJ — Three unrelated car crashes took place in Nutley over the course of a week, each allegedly involving alcohol or intoxication, police said.

According to the Nutley Police Department, the following incidents were reported in the township.

  • Jan. 15 – White Terrace - A motor vehicle accident (driving crashing into a pole) resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old Paterson resident, who was transported to headquarters after determining he was uninjured. He was issued the following motor vehicle summonses: Operating Under Influence of Liquor or Drugs, Open Container of Alcoholic Beverage – Driver, Careless Driving – Likely to Endanger Person or Property, Failure to Possess Driver Insurance Card, Failure to Possess Driver Registration, Obstruction of Windshield for Vision, Traffic on Marked Lanes. He was advised of his mandatory court date and released from custody.
  • Jan. 16 – Stager Street - A motor vehicle crash (driver striking parked car) resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old Nutley man, who was transported to headquarters without incident. He was issued motor vehicle summonses for: Driving While Intoxicated, Careless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Open Container in Possess/Driver, Consent, and Refusal. He was advised of his mandatory court date and released.
  • Jan. 21 – High Street - Officers responded to the report of a motor vehicle crash (driver hit unoccupied parked car) with the driver leaving the scene. A Nutley officer observed the suspect vehicle near Centre and Bloomfield Avenue with heavy damage and arrested a 50-year-old Belleville man. He was issued motor vehicle summonses for: Driving While Intoxicated, Careless Driving, Leaving the Scene of An Accident W/Property Damage, Failure to Report an Accident, Possession of CDS In A Motor Vehicle, with additional charges of Paraphernalia, which were placed on summons. He was provided copies of his paperwork, advised of his court date and released from custody.
