“The coronavirus may have changed some traditional events for Nutley residents but it won’t get in the way of a little Easter egg-citement for 2021. The Nutley Department of Parks and Recreation has scheduled the Easter Eggstravaganza for Thursday, April 1 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. This event will take place adjacent to the Parks and Recreation Building located at 44 Park Avenue. This event is open to Nutley residents only. Families are welcome to join us for a friendly farm drive-thru zoo featuring goats, an alpaca, donkey, baby cow, bunnies, ducks and chickens. Children will also be greeted by special guest the Easter Bunny himself who will be handing out eggs to each car. There will be no direct contact with the animals or Easter Bunny, although you may drive close to the pens. Out of an abundance of caution for our guests and employees, you will be asked to remain in your vehicle for the duration of your time at the event.”
The rain date is April 2. For more information, contact the Department of Parks and Recreation at 973-284-4966.

Nutley town officials wrote:
“Mayor Mauro Tucci and the Department of Parks and Recreation are currently accepting registrations for the spring season of flag football. Online registration is available at https://register.communitypass.net/nutley. The league will begin play in late April. This program is open to boys and girls grades 1 through 4. The fee for this program is $40 per child, and the deadline for registration is April 1. This program is designed to educate young people about football while emphasizing participation and sportsmanship. Players learn skills and lessons that help them succeed both on and off the field.”
“Our goal is for the children to learn and enjoy the game, then potentially move onto our other football programs” Tucci stated.
Nutley officials added:
“The program provides young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork. For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 973-284-4966.”
SPRING PEANUT SOCCER
According to a municipal notice, the Nutley Department of Parks and Recreation will be offering its Peanut Soccer Program again this spring. The program is open to Nutley toddlers ages three through six and is directed by a professional coaching staff.
Officials wrote:
"Introduce your child to the wonderful world of sports. There are tremendous benefits when introducing children to sports from the toddler level. Peanut Soccer is an enjoyable non-competitive program designed to help the youngest of soccer players begin to develop basic soccer skills by participating in fun-filled, soccer-oriented children’s games and basic physical education. Peanut Soccer will begin on May 1, 2021. Classes will be held on Saturdays."
The notice continues:
“The program will be held on the mini turf at Msgr. Owens Park and will run for 6 weeks. This fun, innovative curriculum is an exciting introduction to the sport of soccer for children ages 3 through 6. With the extensive teaching and coaching backgrounds, they understand how children learn and how soccer can be taught effectively. Please note there is limited space available for this program. Online registration is available at https://register.communitypass.net/nutley. For more information on this or any recreation program, contact the Recreation Department at (973) 284-4966, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.”
