5 Belleville HS Wrestlers Earn Spots At First-Ever Girls Tourney

Five students from Belleville High School earned spots at New Jersey's first-ever girls regional wrestling tournament.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — A group of five female students from Belleville recently earned seeded positions in New Jersey’s first-ever girls regional wrestling tournament, school administrators said.

Belleville Superintendent Richard Tomko congratulated the local student-athletes on social media. “Let’s make history,” he encouraged.

The New Jersey Girls Wrestling Regional Tournament will be held on Sunday, Feb. 17 at Red Bank Regional High School, NJ.com reported.

According to NJ.com, Belleville is represented by:

  • Alisa Safforld – 100-pound division
  • Soraya Safforld – 105-pound division
  • Asmaa Embaby - 127-pound division
  • Krystal Araujo - 136-pound division
  • Jeymarie Reyes - 185-pound division
