Belleville, Nutley School Board Elections: See Unofficial Results

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Polls have closed and ballots are being counted for Tuesday’s general election in New Jersey, which took place mostly via mail due to the coronavirus.
In addition to national, state and county races, Belleville and Nutley residents voted on candidates for their local boards of education.

As of Thursday, Frank Velez and Erika Jacho were leading in the race for Belleville Board of Education. Nutley's race was uncontested.
It’s not clear when certified results will be released in Essex County. Due to the pandemic, mail-in ballots postmarked on Nov. 3 will be accepted by the clerk’s office until 8 p.m. on Nov. 10, the same day provisional ballots will be counted. The clerk has until Nov. 23 to certify the results and remit them to state officials.

BELLEVILLE SCHOOL BOARD
A total of six people ran for two seats on the Belleville Board of Education. Each term lasts for three years. Candidates included Erika Jacho, Fernando Acevedo Jr., Lissa Missaggia, Frank Velez III, Yael Cavero-Isakowitz and Michael Sheldon.
Here are the unofficial results as of 5:36 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office:
- Fernando Acevedo Jr. - 2,914
- Yael Cavero-Isakowitz - 774
- Erika Jacho - 3,321
- Lissa Missaggia - 2,873
- Michael Sheldon - 2,556
- Frank Velez III - 3,747
NUTLEY SCHOOL BOARD
Three seats on the Nutley Board of Education are available. Each term lasts three years. Candidates included Salvatore Ferraro, Lisa Danchak-Martin and Salvatore Balsamo.
Here are the unofficial results as of 5:36 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office:
- Salvatore Balsamo - 8,132
- Lisa Danchak-Martin - 8,372
- Salvatore Ferraro - 8,408
