Belleville School Board Member Charged With DWI, Report Says
A member of the Belleville Board of Education has been charged with driving while intoxicated within 1,000 feet of a school, a report says.
BELLEVILLE, NJ — A member of the Belleville Board of Education has been charged with driving while intoxicated within 1,000 feet of a school and other offenses, a report says.
Erika Jacho, 41, was allegedly found slumped over the steering wheel of her car at 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday near the 500-block of Joralemon Street. Her car was parked and running, and partially blocking a lane of the roadway, which is located near Belleville Public School No. 7, police told NJ.com.
Jacho was arrested and charged with DWI within 1,000 feet of a school, refusal to submit to a chemical test and parking within 10 feet of a fire hydrant. Belleville’s school superintendent said no action has been taken with regard to Jacho’s status on the board, NJ.com reported. Read the full article here.

Jacho is one of six candidates running for two, three-year terms on the Belleville Board of Education this year. The election is taking place mainly via mail due to the coronavirus pandemic.
