Belleville Schools Closed Tuesday: 'Police Will Be Towing' During Snowstorm

BELLEVILLE, NJ — It’s official. Belleville township officials announced Monday afternoon that all the district's schools will be closed on Tuesday, March 14, due to an impending blizzard.

Belleville town officials released the following statement on Monday:

"Due to the anticipated snowstorm, the township is requiring all vehicles be moved from snow emergency streets before midnight on Monday, March 13 or be subjected to towing and/or ticketing. Be advised, the police will be towing in the overnight hours as the storm progresses. You can check the township website for a current list of affected streets."

To help the Public Works Department clear Belleville streets, do not throw snow back into the street, officials stated.

"Do not plow snow into the roadway," officials said. "This will be strictly enforced."

Garbage and recycling pick-ups for Tuesday, March 14 and Wednesday, March 15 have been suspended. Trash collection will resume on the next scheduled pick-up day.

All township recreation activities for Tuesday and Wednesday have been cancelled, officials said.

"Placing objects in the street to reserve a parking space is prohibited and can hinder emergency services and the Department of Public Works," municipal officials stated.
