BELLEVILLE, NJ — The shortest route to the heart is often through the stomach.

Local officers got treated to a delicious meal from the Cubano Express food truck this week, the Belleville Police Department reported on social media.

“Thank you to Henry Sanchez and Brenda Liz Rosa of the Cubano Express food truck for showing your appreciation for law enforcement by stopping in front of our headquarters and treating our officers to delicious food,” the BPD wrote. “The food was excellent and your show of support is greatly appreciated.”

Cubano Express can be found every Friday night at Pier 13 in Hoboken, Sanchez stated.

According to the food truck’s website, Sanchez has been a chef for more than 25 years. He said that his passion for food started in The Culinary Institute of America in upstate New York. It expanded through the years as an executive chef at Gallagher's Steakhouse in NYC, Smith and Wollensky in Miami Beach and Taste in New Jersey.

“While in Miami I had the opportunity to expand and explore my knowledge of Caribbean food,” Sanchez writes. “Curiosity sneaked in. In the last two years and after exploring the food truck world, meeting wonderful people and eating my way through this new adventure I decided to embark in this new journey, hoping that you will fall in love as I did with the flavors of the Caribbean.”
