Garbage Truck Hits, Kills Pedestrian In Belleville: ECPO

The truck driver remained at the scene. No charges have been filed, Essex County prosecutors said.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — A garbage truck hit and killed a pedestrian in Belleville on Wednesday, authorities said.

A Mack truck owned by Interstate Waste Services struck Ximena Aguilar, 44, of Belleville, near Washington Avenue and Little Street, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Belleville Police Department.

Aguilar was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:53 p.m.

The truck driver remained at the scene. No charges have been filed, prosecutors said Thursday.

The Belleville Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the incident. Anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
