Glimpse ‘Turn Of Century Nutley’ At Photo Exhibit

The exhibit is a joint effort of the Nutley Historical Society and Town Historian John Demmer.

NUTLEY, NJ — Want to get a glimpse of life in “turn of the century” Nutley?

On Tuesday, Sept. 17 a photo exhibit titled “Lost and Found Nutley: The Forgotten Photographs of Nathaniel Frederick Carryl” went on display to the public at the Nutley Historical Society at 65 Church Street.

According to an event post from the society, the 19th century glass-plate negatives were rescued from a Newark second-hand shop more than 50 years ago.

The exhibit is a joint effort of the Nutley Historical Society and Town Historian John Demmer, and is made possible through the support of Silas Mountsier.

The exhibit will be open Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., beginning Sept. 17 and ending Oct. 15. It closes on Saturday, Oct. 19 with an event from noon to 5 p.m., including a 1 p.m. gallery talk from Town Historian John Demmer.
