Guardian Of Nutley History Passes Away: Dorothy Greengrove

Greengrove, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, was dedicated to preserving local history. She passed away at the age of 87.

NUTLEY, NJ — A dedicated guardian of Nutley’s history passed away on Wednesday: Dorothy Greengrove.

According to her obituary, Greengrove, 87, was a lifelong resident of Nutley. Born in Passaic, she worked as a realtor with Moscara Realty in Nutley before retiring.

She served as president of the Historic Restoration Trust, was a member of the Nutley Town Club, and was active with the Girl Scouts of America. Her work in the community earned her the Mattia Award.

Greengrove was one of the key community members who helped to restore Kingsland Manor, a late 18th century mansion and historic landmark.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, Sept. 29 from 2 to 6 p.m.
