New Health Clinic for Seniors and Disabled Adults Opens in Essex

A on-site health clinic opened inside a senior and disabled adults building in Newark operated by the non-profit New Community Corporation.

As part of its mission to provide quality, accessible healthcare to low income residents, New Community is opening a new on-site health clinic on the first floor of its residence for seniors and disabled adults called “Commons Senior,” located at 140 South Orange Ave. in Newark.

Richard Rohrman, CEO of New Community, Sharon Pleasant-Jones, New Community Director of Health and Social Services, and Marsha Atkind, Executive Director of The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey announced the clinic would open on Friday December 12.

The 300-square-foot clinic was funded by a grant from The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, which has allowed New Community to expand its Visiting Physician Program. More than 200 residents living in the building will now have unfettered access to primary care services.
