Public schools will delay opening by 90 minutes as cold, snow, black ice make roads hazardous

Nutley Public Schools and Belleville Public Schools said all schools will delay opening by 90 minutes following a major winter storm and weather advisory regarding black ice and extremely low temperatures Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service is warning that a sudden drop in temperatures last night would make driving hazardous, as roads are covered in black ice and temperatures are hovering in the teens and single digits in the area.

Nutley High School will now open at 9:35 a.m., Nutley Middle School at 9:40 a.m. and elementary schools at 10 a.m.
