Nutley Native’s Film Tackles ‘Grief, Islamophobia, Trump’ (VIDEO)

NUTLEY, NJ — A film from an Essex County native that tackles “grief, Islamophobia, Trump, and America” has amassed almost 13,000 views.

Nutley’s Christopher Jason Bell recently released “The City Is Like A Character In The Film,” a 12-minute video that reaches beyond its running time in scope and relevance. (Watch the movie below)

The film depicts a meeting between “lonely tourist” Ahmed, who randomly decides to help a “lost stranger,” Julie, to find her way in the Manhattan. Together, they find the comfort and solace they were seeking.

Bell – who lived in Nutley until he graduated high school – is also the creative force behind “The Winds That Scatter.” In the movie, which was previously named one of the "best films of the year" by Film Pulse, Bell tells the story of Ahmad, a refugee from Syria chasing a dream of starting his own taxi service.
