“Jasmine was able to break down the currencies into individual values and advised the victim to place it in a virtual wallet for access to transfer the funds. Upon logging out of the account and signing back in per Jasmine’s instructions, the victim was not allowed to gain access back into the account. After multiple attempts to sign back in, the victim was granted access and found that the virtual wallet and crypto account were both showing zero balances.”
Nutley police continued:
“When trying to contact Jasmine back using the same phone number, it was now a non-working number. The victim made contract through [the businesses’] website, and through messaging with a representative, was informed that there was not an employee named Jasmine, and that their employees do not speak with customers on the phone. Additionally, there was nothing they could do about the missing currency totaling over $20,000.”
