“After an online interview via Hangout Chat, the victim was advised they were hired and would need to order the following items: Apple MacBook Pro, Apple Magic Key Board, Apple Magic Mouse, LG 34-inch Curved Ultrawide Monitor, HP LaserJet Pro All in One Wireless color printer and QuickBooks software. ‘Ms. Warren’ advised that the company would send a cashier's check for $5,849 via FedEx for the victim to purchase all the required items from their accredited vendors. Instructions were given for the victim to deposit the cashier’s check into their account and then withdraw $5,500 in cash and deposit it into a TD Bank Account provided by ‘Ms. Warren.’ When the victim realized the cashier’s check was returned to their bank they made contact with their bank and TD Bank where the $5,500 deposit was made.”
Both banks stated that since the withdrawal and deposit were made in cash, the money cannot be recovered, Nutley police said.
