NUTLEY, NJ — A roof collapse took place at the Ciccolini Building in Nutley on Tuesday, authorities said.

Deputy Fire Chief Paul Cafone said crews were dispatched to 537 Franklin Avenue at 4:27 p.m.

Nutley emergency responders arrived to find a collapse on the roof structure at the northeast corner, with broken windows on the front. A PSE&G crew responded to secure the gas at the curb line, and the electric service has been removed from the pole, Cafone said.

The building was turned over to the construction official and a township representative to secure the premise, Cafone said.

Nobody was inside at the time of collapse, but it remains to be seen what the incident will mean for the Nutley Farmers Market, which is scheduled to open Sunday in the parking lot alongside the building, TAP Into Nutley reported.
