Sand Poured In Car Engine, Other Vandalism Reported In Nutley: PD
In one case, sand was poured into a car's engine. Another car had its window smashed, Nutley police said.
NUTLEY, NJ — Several people recently reported cases of criminal mischief to their vehicles in Nutley. In one case, sand was poured into the engine, and in another, a window was smashed, police said Thursday.
According to the Nutley Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported.
June 19 (Hillside Avenue) – “A report of criminal mischief was made with officers. The victim stated that when they returned to their vehicle, they found it had been keyed. A large deep scratch was observed on the rear right passenger door that extended over the gas tank and onto the brake light.”

June 21 (Harrison Street) – “Officers responded to the area regarding a report of criminal mischief. The victim stated that they found their 2017 vehicle with heavy damage to the entire vehicle. Observed were all the vehicle’s windows broken, with heavy scrape marks into the entire exterior of the vehicle. Additionally, there was sand poured into the engine, and grease or paint spread throughout the entire inside of the vehicle.”
June 21 (Park Drive) – “Officers responded to the area for a report of criminal mischief. The victim stated they parked their vehicle on Park Drive prior to attending high school, and upon return found the rear passenger window to the vehicle smashed. There were no items reported missing from the vehicle, and there were no items found inside of the vehicle that could have possibly been used to cause the damage.”
