NUTLEY, NJ — Thefts of catalytic converters continue to be reported in Nutley, authorities say.
According to the Nutley Police Department, several vehicle owners have been victimized in the township over the past year due to the high “scrap value” of the car parts.

Nutley police released the following details about the latest incidents.

May 2 (Quarry Street) – “Police responded to the area regarding a theft. The victim reported that their vehicle’s catalytic converter was stolen during the night. The estimated value of the converter is $1,000. The detective bureau was advised of the incident.”
May 3 – (Hay Avenue) – “Response was made regarding the report of a theft. The homeowner stated that someone had stolen their catalytic converter from their vehicle while parked in the driveway. The converter was observed cut from the exhaust with a saw.”
