String of Car Burglaries Hit Nutley in December
Police urge residents to lock cars while parked.

Nutley Police have reported a number of burglaries from cars in December.
On Dec. 5, a Glendale Street resident noticed that motion lights went off in their home’s driveway. In the light, they saw someone rummaging through the inside of their parked car. The resident chased away the robber. The car did not display signs of forced entry, damage or have any items missing.
Three days later, a Hetherington Road resident told police that someone had broken into their car, a white Jaguar, and rummaged through their belongings. Police said the car had been left unlocked and that there was no damage or signs of forced entry to the vehicle. There were no items or currency from their vehicle.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, a Mt. Vernon Street resident told police that two cars had been broken into. While items were taken from both cars, police said they didn’t appear to have been damaged.
Police urge residents to lock their vehicles even when parked in their homes.
