Accident On I-78 Sets Tractor-Trailer On Fire, Kills 1: Police
The crash involved three tractor-trailers and happened late at night on Wednesday, close to milepost 29.4, near Bedminster.
BEDMINSTER, NJ — Three tractor-trailers crashed on Interstate 78 close to Bedminster late night on Wednesday, setting one of them on fire and resulting in the death of its driver, according to New Jersey State Police.
The accident happened around 11:31 p.m., close to milepost 29.4 of I-78.
The three tractor-trailers were traveling eastbound.

A 2013 Freightliner struck the rear of the 2015 Volvo and a Volvo struck the rear of a 2020 Freightliner. As a result, the 2013 Freightliner and Volvo went off the road to the right, police.
The cab of the 2013 Freightliner became fully engulfed in flames, causing the driver to sustain fatal injuries, according to police. The ID of the victim is still pending.

The drivers of the other two tractor-trailers did not sustain any injuries.
According to the New Jersey Department of Transportation, all lanes were still closed West of exit 29 by 6:38 a.m. on Thursday and the center and left lanes only reopened close to 7 a.m., the right one remaining closed.
As of noon, all lanes were reopened, police said.
The accident is still under investigation.
