Bedminster Renewing Sustainable Jersey Certification
Environmental program allows township to be eligible for grant funds.

Bedminster is moving forward with an attempt to renew its Sustainable Jersey certification, which it received in 2010.
Township administrator Judy Sullivan said the township achieved a bronze level of certification in 2010.
“Our environmental commission is in the process of renewing Bedminster’s Sustainable Jersey Certification, and a resolution of support was required,” she said.

That resolution was approved at the May 20 committee meeting.
Sustainable Jersey is a certification program for municipalities that are looking to go green, control costs and save money. It focuses on global warming, pollution, biodiversity, buying local and more.

Certification requires the township to be taking several actions, including having school programs on going green, creating a green team, community outreach, energy audits and more.
Certification allows a township to be eligible for more grants in the future.
Sullivan said the township is moving forward with submitting information about the programs they still have in place.
“I believe Bedminster is just looking to renew by showing proof that the programs put in place for qualification are still in place,” she said.
