Bernardsville Student Awarded Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship
Maggie Morash of Bernardsville, a senior at Rutgers University, is one of 28 students to receive a $7,500 scholarship

Bernardsville, NJ -- Congrats Maggie Morash!
The Bernardsville soccer player was among 28 students to receive a postgraduate scholarship from the Big Ten Conference office.
Two students competing in intercollegiate athletics from each of the 14 Big Ten institutions who plan to continue their education at a graduate degree program were each awarded a $7,500 scholarship, based on primarily academic achievements, according to a release from the Big Ten Conference.

A senior at Rutgers University, Moarsh has been playing on the soccer team since she was a freshman.
Some of her highlights this year include: being named RU’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner in Oct. 30); helped RU to a program record 770:16 minutes of shutout soccer through the team’s first nine matches; named captain for second consecutive season; and placed on the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.

All of the recipients including Morash will continue their education in a variety of different disciplines, including aerospace engineering, astrophysics, biochemistry, economics, forensics, genetics, medicine, public health administration, physiology and psychology.
Students were awarded the scholarship based on a number of criteria:
- Students must have maintained at least a 3.2 grade-point-average,
- demonstrated leadership qualities,
- served as an excellent role model
- and intended to continue their academic work beyond their baccalaureate degree at a graduate degree program.
The scholarship will be used to pay expenses of the student’s postgraduate education to include such related activities as research and teaching, as well as other expenses such as tuition, fees, room and board, required course-related supplies and books. In order to retain the scholarship, the recipient must be accepted into a full-time graduate degree program within three years from the fall semester after selection, according to the release.
