The beautification of the entryway to Bernardsville along Route 202 was initiated more than three years ago by Bonnie Stone Sellers of the Bernardsville Downtown Revitalization Committee according to a plan approved by the Mayor and Borough Council. This initial stage, a mix of dogwoods, red bud, American fringe, a magnolia, winter berry and viburnum, has blossomed fully in spring and early summer of 2021. The plantings start at Spring House Road and Meadow Book Farm, continue along Route 202 to Borough Hall, and end at the Fire House.

All the new trees and shrubs are native, non-invasive, and consistent with the Master Plan for the Borough. They are intended, according to the Shade Tree Committee, to create a “signature” look that will, in years to come, help enrich the unique and diverse character of Bernardsville. Of note, the current chair, Ann Wazeter, has resigned, leaving vacancies for other residents to continue this meaningful volunteer activity and make a real contribution to the community.
