Could You Be A Match? Family Fights to Find Bone Marrow Donor for Loving Father Battling Cancer
A bone marrow drive will be held to find a match for a Somerset County father of two whose wife is a local teacher.
A local family is reaching out to the community to help save the life of a loving father who is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant.
Do you know the Ledermans? Stacey Katcher Lederman has been a Warren Township educator for 16 years, at both Angelo L. Tomaso School and Mt. Horeb School. Now, the Lederman family is reaching out to the same community Stacey has served for years, to save her husband’s life.
Currently, the Lederman family is seeking community support to help provide a life saving measure for Stacey’s husband, Darren Lederman, as he battles cancer.

Darren was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow, which worsens if untreated.
Darren began treatment in late January and remains hospitalized. During this time he must be separated from his two young children, Emma and Noah, which is incredibly challenging for the whole family.

More than $18,000 has been raised in an online fundraiser to help support the Lederman family wile Darren undergoes treatment. To make a donation to help the family in their time of need, click here.
“Being taken away from his children for at least 30 days, as they are not allowed to visit due to risk of infection, will be extremely difficult on everyone,” the fundraising site states. “Darren will be out of work for an endless amount of time. They should not have to worry about money right now, when they have bigger things to worry about.”
Darren’s treatment plan currently involves intensive chemotherapy, which will be followed by a bone marrow transplant. Since Darren’s parents and only brother are deceased, there is an all-out search for an appropriate bone marrow donor.
Please join the Lederman family at the Bone Marrow Drive on March 1 between 1 and 4 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center of Central New Jersey, 1391 Martine Avenue, Scotch Plains.
Candidates for testing must be between 18 and 55-years-old and in good overall health. The test is quick and painless; it will only take ten seconds for a cheek swab.
