Man Did Donuts On Trump's Golf Course, Caused $20K In Damage: PD

BEDMINSTER, NJ — A man who was recently charged with breaking into Taylor Swift's home has been arrested again, this time for causing about $20,000 in damages by driving onto the Trump National Golf Course and doing "donuts" with his car, authorities in Somerset County said.

Richard J. McEwan, 26, of Church Road, Milford was charged with third-degree criminal mischief. He was arrested last week after breaking into the beachfront mansion of singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, and then taking his shoes off. On Tuesday, Sept. 3 around 5:30 p.m., an employee of the Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster said they saw a man, later identified as McEwan, driving a Ford sedan and doing "donuts" on the 11th hole, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.

A black piece of plastic labeled Ford was found left behind at the scene. The damage to the grounds was estimated to be more than $10,000, Robertson said.

On Sunday, Sept. 8 at about 3:30 p.m. a blue Ford compact car with a Rutgers sticker driven by a younger white man was seen driving on the green of the 13th hole, doing "donuts" which caused damage estimated to be between $7,000 and $9,000, Robertson said.

Part of the license plate number of the car was captured. An investigation by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and the Bedminster Township Police Department found that the vehicle was a 2006 Ford Focus belonging to McEwan, Robertson said.

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, with the help of the Holland Township Police Department, McEwan was found at his home and taken into custody without incident. He was released pending a future court date.
