Matheny Welcomes New Board Leadership

January 14, 2019, Peapack, NJ - William A. Krais was recently elected as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Matheny School and Hospital, Inc. Mr. Krais has been a Matheny board member for over 16 years, and has served the board in various capacities. He is a principal with the law firm of Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, P.C. in Morristown, NJ, where he specializes in representing victims of medical malpractice. Mr. Krais has served as President of the Morris County Bar Association and as a trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Mr. Krais graduated from the University of Notre Dame and Boston University School of Law, and resides with his family in Maplewood, NJ.

Mr. Krais says he is grateful for this opportunity, “I am constantly impressed by the symbiotic relationship between Matheny's residents and its dedicated staff, allowing the residents to maximize their lives and fulfill their potential.” Matheny’s previous co-chairs, Edana Desatnick and Bruce Fisher, will continue to serve as trustees of the Matheny board.

Patrick Scaglione was elected Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Scaglione served as Director of the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders for many years. He received his Masters of Business Administration – Finance and Real Estate Finance, from the Rutgers University Graduate School of Business. Mr. Scaglione is employed as a financial consultant/financial trader and currently resides in Bridgewater with his wife and daughter.

The newest board members to join Matheny are:

Kim Caniano, Friends of Matheny board co-chair, Matheny parent, and long-time volunteer; Ellen Lambert, retired Chief Diversity office for PSEG; Albert Mezzaroba, Esq., Of Counsel to Genova Burns and former hospital president and CEO; and Alan Turovlin, Managing Director, Turovlin Partners and Matheny parent

Dr. Kendell R. Sprott, President of Matheny says, “We are extremely fortunate to have such dynamic and dedicated board members. Each of them contributes their time, talent and treasure without hesitation and positively impacts the lives of the people we serve.”

Other members at large include: Kenneth Alter; Vincent Barba, MD, FACP, FHM, CPPS; Thomas Belding; Peter M. Holloway; Daniel F. McLaughlin; Maddalena Minardi; August D. Pellegrini, Jr., DDS; Kathy Sisto; David Szott; and Lawrence R. Thornton.
