New Security System Installed At Bernards High School
A doorbell and camera are now outside of the first door and visitors to most of the building will have to scan their driver's license.
BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — A new security system has been installed and a new sign-in procedure will be in place at Bernards High School when school starts Thursday.
Visitors who need to go to the main office will need to ring the outside doorbell and then ring another doorbell inside the vestibule before they enter the main part of the building.
Visitors may access the rest of the building only if their driver's license is scanned by school personnel.

Parents who are dropping off items for their children will need to ring the outside doorbell and wait to be buzzed in before leaving the items.
"This new security measure will ensure that anyone who enters the vestibule, which students access on a regular basis, will already have been vetted by the main office staff," Principal Scott Neigel said in a notification to parents. "I understand that this might be a small inconvenience, but it is an important step in keeping our students and staff safe."
