New Yoga Sessions Begin at Bernardsville Library in March
Two six-session courses of yoga begin in March: Yoga Basics and Chair Yoga.

Bernardsville Public Library, in partnership with Bernardsville Recreation, will offer two more six-session courses of yoga beginning in March.
Gentle Chair Yoga will be offered on Monday mornings, March 12 to April 23 at 10:30 am (no class on 4/2). Julie Shaw of Lotus Mind and Body will teach this class which combines simple breath and movement to increase circulation in joints, strengthen major muscle groups, and relax the nervous system. The benefits of this time-honored practice can include increased energy, mental clarity and mobility, better sleep, healthy digestion, and decreased pain. Most of the class will be done seated in a chair, with a few standing exercises, although students may remain in the chair throughout. They are also welcome to bring a mat and a blanket and do some postures on the floor, if suitable, especially for the final relaxation pose. The total cost for the 6-week session is $35.00.
Yoga Basics will be offered in the library's Community Room on Tuesdays, March 6 to April 10 at 1:00 pm. Taught by an instructor from Lotus Mind and Body, a yoga studio in Bernardsville, the total cost for the 6-week session is also $35.00. Suitable for all students, the classes will offer an integrated sequence of poses designed to warm up the body and then work toward a specific intention within the natural movements of the spine. Students are encouraged throughout the entire practice to link their awareness of breath to the movements of the body. Pranayama (breath work) and a final deep relaxation are integral to every class. Students should bring a yoga mat or towel with them to class.
