North Plainfield Local Named New Museum Coordinator For Jacobus Vanderveer House

The Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House Board of Trustees announced Kristina Poggi of North Plainfield will serve as museum coordinator.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — The Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House Board of Trustees have announced the hiring of Kristina Poggi, of North Plainfield to serve as museum coordinator. Poggi replaces Taryn Nie, who fulfilled the part-time role since February 2016 and recently announced plans to relocate to the Washington D.C. area with her husband.

“We are delighted to welcome Kristina to the Vanderveer House,” commented Craig Sutherland, President of The Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House Board of Trustees. “Her educational background and her experience coordinating events, exhibits, programs, and historic research at other state historic sites make her well-prepared to assist the Friends’ organization in the management of the Vanderveer House.”

Poggi earned a Master’s Degree in Cultural Heritage and Preservation Studies and a dual Bachelor’s Degree in History and Art History along with a certificate in Cultural Heritage Preservation Studies from Rutgers University. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate studies, she held internships at the Howell Living History Farm, East Jersey Olde Towne Village, and the Elmwood Cemetery in New Brunswick.

She has a Certificate of Eligibility to teach Social Studies in grades K-12, and currently works with elementary and middle school children in the Somerset Hills School District.

“As The Friends’ organization continues to expand educational programming for children both on- and off-site, we will be aided by Kristina’s experience in this area,” observed Sutherland.
