Here’s The ‘Average’ Property Tax Bill In Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — If you owned the “average” home in Bloomfield during 2020, you paid about $10,888 in property taxes, according to the latest round of state data.

Here’s how much Bloomfield home owners paid in 2020 (see information for other Essex County municipalities below):

• Average Residential Property Value – $351,900
• Average Total Property Taxes - $10,888
• Percentage Increase From 2019 – 0.83%

A property owner’s taxes are composed of three parts: county, school and municipal. Here’s how it broke down in Bloomfield in 2020:

• Total Levy On Which Tax Rate Is Computed - $163,918,646
• Total County Levy – 15%
• Total School Levy - 47%
• Total Municipal Tax Levy - 38%

Statewide, New Jersey property taxes rose an average of 1 percent between 2019 and 2020, going from $8,953 to $9,112. The tax data tables also show that tax ratables rose 2 percent statewide since 2019, an increase above the five- and 10-year historical averages, with total ratables now at $1.118 trillion.
