18-Year-Old Charged In Road Rage Crash That Killed Brick Man
Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer says an argument between Avrohom Pam, 18, and John Arendt Jr., 73, led to the crash that killed Sean Avon, 26.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — An 18-year-old Lakewood man has been charged with vehicular homicide after a three-vehicle chain reaction crash during a road rage incident Friday night that killed one Brick Township man and injured another, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.
Avrohom Pam, 18, of Lakewood, is being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said Saturday.
Sean Avon, 26, of Brick, died of injuries suffered in the crash, Billhimer said. John Arendt Jr., 73, of Brick, is listed in stable condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, he said.

Pam was driving a 2021 Ford van in the right lane on Lanes Mills Road shortly after 5 p.m. Friday when he hit Arendt's 2019 Honda CRV. The force of the crash sent Arendt’s Honda into the northbound lane of Lanes Mill Road, where he hit Avon's 2012 Ford Mustang head-on, the prosecutor said.
Avon was taken to Ocean Medical Center in Brick, where he succumbed to his injuries, Billhimer said.

The investigation found an argument between Pam and Arendt led to the crash, Billhimer said.
"Initial investigation reveals this is a tragedy of epic proportions for Mr. Avon and his family and an unfortunate consequence of aggressive driving," Billhimer said.
Pam did not require medical attention but was taken to Ocean Medical Center for a blood draw, pursuant to a court-authorized warrant, Billhimer said.
Billhimer said the investigation is ongoing and may result in additional charges. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Anthony Carrington III of the prosecutor’s office at 732-929-9027, or Lakewoood Detective Patrick Kearns at 732-363-0200.
The prosecutor's office Vehicular Homicide Squad and Major Crime Unit, Lakewood police and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit investigated.
