Lt. Joseph Oliveri retired after nearly 26 years with the department, during which he received numerous honors.

BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township Police Department has promoted two officers and sworn in a new patrol officer, while bidding happy retirement to a longtime lieutenant.

Lt. Joe Oliveri, who joined the department in January 1995, retired Nov. 30 following a career that included a variety of assignments, from patrol to professional standards to administrative services and the detective bureau. He was a field training officer and trained 17 patrol officers, and investigated computer crimes and motor vehicle thefts. He spent a year with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s office in the Computer Crimes Unit, working to catch child sexual predators.

Oliveri received numerous honors during his career, including the department's Lt. Thomas McNelis Leadership Award, which is given to a supervisor or non-patrol personnel who has done an outstanding job in his or her position.
