2 Face Meth Charges Following Brick Motor Vehicle Stop

The arrests resulted from an investigation by the Brick Township Police Department's Street Crimes Unit.

BRICK, NJ — Two people are facing methamphetamine possession charges following a motor vehicle stop by the Brick Township Police Department's Street Crimes Unit, police said Thursday.

Daniel Brennan, 53, of Manchester, and Alyssa Thomas, 27, of Brick, were arrested about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Jim Kelly said.

The Street Crimes Unit was conducting an investigation in the area of Mathis Drive after receiving "numerous complaints" of suspicious activity and pulled over a vehicle that was associated with the reported activity, Kelly said.

The investigation turned up methamphetamine, heroin, syringes and other drug paraphernalia, and Brennan and Thomas were charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of hypodermic syringes and possession of paraphernalia. Thomas was charged with possession of heroin as well, he said.

Brennan was released on a summons. Thomas was taken to the Ocean County Jail to await a detention hearing.
