3 Indicted In Toms River Shooting That Killed Bayville Man
Shadrach Correa, Daivon Sullivan and Leyron Jones have been indicted on a murder charge; Javon Cutler, 19, died of a gunshot to the head.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Three Toms River men have been indicted in the fatal shooting of a Bayville man in downtown Toms River last fall, the Ocean County Prosecutor Office announced.
Shadrach Correa, 19, Daivon Sullivan, 19, and Leyron Jones, 24, all of Toms River, have been indicted on a charge of murder in the killing of Javon Cutler, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Cutler, 19, and two friends were leaving the Toms River Apartments on Main Street about 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 11 when someone began shooting at the vehicle, Billhimer said. Cutler, who was sitting in the back seat, was struck in the head. The driver of the vehicle drove him straight to Community Medical Center, and then Cutler was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he died Oct. 14.

The Ocean County Medical Examiner ruled Cutler’s death was caused by the "intermediate-distance gunshot wound to the head," Billhimer said.
Correa, Sullivan and Jones were charged Oct. 28 in Cutler's killing. Correa had been arrested Oct. 23 in connection with an unrelated incident, he said. Sullivan and Jones were arrested Oct. 29 and all three have been held in the Ocean County Jail since then.

In addition to the murder charge in Cutler's death, all three men are charged with two counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a weapon and unlawful possession, Billhimer said. Correa also was indicted separately on a count of unlawful possession of a weapon in the Oct. 23 incident.
Billhimer praised the efforts of Senior Assistant Prosecutor Robert Cassidy, who is handling the case.
He said the investigation that led to the arrests involved law enforcement from all over Ocean County, including the Major Crime, High Tech Crime, and Victim Witness units of the prosecutor's office; the prosecutor’s office Narcotics Strike Force and Regional SWAT Team; the Toms River Police Department and its Detective Bureau, Special Enforcement Team and Emergency Services Unit; the Manchester Township, Barnegat Township, Berkeley Township, Seaside Heights, Brick Township, Lakewood, Jackson, and South Toms River police departments, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit; the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office; Ocean County Department of Corrections; the New Jersey State Department of Corrections; New Jersey State Police; and the FBI.
