Around Brick: Teen Charged In Fatal Road Rage Crash

A Lakewood 18-year-old is facing charges in a crash that killed a Brick man; township police will receive $277,000 in body cams, and more.

BRICK, NJ — An 18-year-old is facing vehicular homicide charges in a crash Friday evening that killed a Brick Township man; authorities say it resulted from a road rage incident.

Friends of Sean Avon, the 26-year-old Brick man who was killed when his 2012 Ford Mustang was hit head-on, have set up a GoFundme campaign to raise funds to help Avon's widow and family.

Avrohom Pam, 18, of Lakewood, was being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said Saturday. Read more: 18-Year-Old Charged In Road Rage Crash That Killed Brick Man

Billhimer said the crash happened after Pam and John Arendt Jr., 73, of Brick, got into an argument. Additional charges are possible, Billhimer said.

Another fatal crash, this one on Mother's Day, resulted in criminal charges last week. Ashley A. Watkins, 30, of Eatontown, was charged with vehicular homicide, strict liability vehicular homicide and assault by auto in the May 9 crash on Lanes Mill Road that killed Nancy Penrod, 78, of Brick, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D.
